What to watch on Netflix: July 2025 | TV / Streaming

Temperatures are increasing, which means it’s time to stay inside and watch a film! (Or the last season of “Squid Game”, I suppose.) When you have traveled this list of the best television shows so far this year, or if you just want to watch a film, come back to this list of the best films in Netflix this month, first highlights, everything else, with links to our original criticisms of these films, many of them by Roger Ebert.

Best

July 1stst

“Blow”

Johnny Depp gave one of his best performances in Ted Demme’s sprawling drama on a Lord of Cocaine Crime, vaguely based on the true story of George Yung. An ambitious film, this film won a cult on DVD after its theater release. Check it to see why.

“Born July 4”

Tom Cruise won his first Oscar appointment (and should really have won) for playing Ron Kovic in this true story that won Oliver Stone his second prize from the Best Director Academy. Under and emotionally powerful, it has risen over time and would make a vision inspired by this holiday weekend.

“Captain Phillips”

One of the biggest Snobs Oscar of all time came when the Academy missed one of the best performances of Tom Hanks, undoubtedly its last truly masterful lap. The double winner plays Richard Phillips, an American sailor who was taken hostage by Somali pirates. If it is right for his breakdown after his rescue, he should probably have won.

“Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2”

This film is not as good as the original, but it is as easily one of the best family films that you can watch on Netflix. Do you want fun anecdotes? It was my first starry criticism at Rogerebert.com12 years ago.

“The deer hunter”

One of the most essential films of the Vietnam War ever made, people forget how fresh war was fresh when it landed in theaters, on its way to the Oscars for the best film, the best director and the best support actor. It is always a difficult watch, almost half a century later.

“Mission: Impossible”

While “The Final Reckoning” derives from theaters, come back at the start of the Ethan Hunt saga with the first five films in this series, all on Netflix.

“The notebook”

One of the most heartbreaking films of all time, this drama Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams launched an adaptations industry of Nicholas Sparks and its imitators.

“The other guys”

Everyone talks about films like “Anchorman” and even “Step Brothers”, but it is the underestimated collaboration Ferrell-Mckay, an always funny parody of acts of action friends.

“Pacific Rim”

How have so many people rejected a film by Guillermo del Toro on giant robots fighting giant monsters? What’s wrong with us?

“Eye Rouge”

The most underestimated film in Wes Craven’s career is 20 years old this year. If you are recent on Cillian Murphy’s train, don’t miss his nasty turn here.

“Tangerine”

Long before he won several Oscars for “Anora”, Sean Baker made it possible to browse this story of sex workers in the city of transvestite in the city of Angels.

“V for vendetta”

The moment is suitable for a film on revolutionary ideas. You know what I mean.

“A star was born”

Bradley Cooper played with Lady Gaga in this beloved story of a timeless story on a musician in difficulty and the talented singer where he falls on stage and out.

July 9th

“Mad Max: Fury Road”

One of the best films of his time is used to leaving and streaming services. Take the opportunity to look at this masterpiece again before it is accelerated.
