There are echoes of the Jordan Peele in the ancestry of Zach Cregger of the Freentiven sitcom to the horror messiah. For the most part, the film delivers. A nasty fairy tale with a killer hook and a formidable central performance cover. Each obtains a turn under the spotlight, with a multi-chapter frame and a photograph focused on the perspective allowing a slow drop, although disparate, of narrative and tension truths. Cinematographically speaking, Weapons prove Barbarous So as not to have been a stroke of luck. The Cregger eye for the disturbing remains is striking, with a shot after a shot entering the memory. There is a long exciting night blow that firm as the enemy is based, while the first images of the missing children fleeing their house cannot help echo the painful image of the daughter of Napalm from Vietnam, mixed with a little of the Spielbergian innocence.

The visuals no longer become disturbing that the first hour of the film slips into its second. However, the defects in the construction of scripts that held Barbarous Back with the much higher ladder of horror. Everything is a little too embarrassed in the design and, with the haunted house, the frightening children and the witch nuances … maybe too obvious? A mixture of tropes, terribly executed, but somewhat incongruous in deployment.

At 2:17 am in the city of Maybrook, seventeen children from the same class leave their houses simultaneously and disappear. There are only two left. There is the young Alex Lily (Cary Christopher), his eyes wide, Shell shocked, says nothing and claiming ignorance. Alex came to school as usual that day but, between his eccentric aunt and his darkened house, something feels decidedly offset. The other survivor – at the start of the film, clear allegorical parallels are established between the disappearance of children and the real massacres of the world class who believe the justification of American laws on lax firearms – is a kid Miss Gandy by Julia Garner. Thirty days later, angry parents shout poultry against his innocence protests, marking his appearances in school and degrading her her life.

Miss Gandy is the first and most convincing of the prospects pocketed in the film. Fragility and fire lead it between the bottle and a constraint to learn the truth. Other angles come from a Philandering police officer (Alden Ehrenreich), a homeless drug addict (Austin Abrams), the inept director of the school (Benedict Wong) and the father of one of the missing children (Josh Brolin). Vanity has advantages but more and more frustrating, flying the public of the opportunity to follow the mystery of its natural apex through the maternity of substitution of a central protagonist. Each chapter takes us a step back, each new less cognoscent character of the progression than his predecessor.

Congger plays his hand earlier than what we could expect, brilliant the mystery and pushing his film in an entertaining left field.
