One battle after the other – Review & Cocktail – GenMovi

I am sure that each generation at one time or another thought: “It is the worst that it has ever been”. Concern, fear, sadness, anxiety; All these new feelings are not invented by magic whenever a generation grows and must finally think by itself. The world has always had something wrong in class, and call me a pessimistic if you wish, I don’t think it will really change. But it can be good to face the horrors of today, recognizing the pain caused and enveloping you in dread as a way to lead you to actively do what you can to fight for a better future. If that’s how you like to manage things, do I have the film 2025 for you. It’s called Eddington.

But, if you are looking for something a little more hope but no less poignant, well you are lucky, because it is the film we are talking about today. But not only does it succeed in all of this, I have the pleasure of saying that it can potentially succeed in being a fucking masterpiece.

Leonardo DiCaprio as Bob

One battle after another maybe fair THE Film of the year for me; A film which is so intrinsically linked to our current state, but also remembers entertaining yourself in a way that you will be in a hurry to find this year. Welcoming flawless, with an electric rhythm and much funnier than it probably has the right to be, this film on the theme of the bite can prove to be one of the greatest pleasures of the crowd of the year. I had the chance to see this in 70 mm with a hyper-engaged crowd and I have not yet come down from this top. It must tell you that it is something special, and if you are not yet fully sold, I hope I can do it for you.

The film follows a flagship of Stoner faded named Bob, who has come out of the game for many years after the arrest of his lover and rarely rare their operation, leaving him a girl to raise by himself. Sixteen years later and a ghost of Bob’s past returns to haunt him with a strange fascination to capture his daughter Willa. Now, Bob must dust off and try to be the warrior and the father he always needed to be … but a puff of more than one joint and a sip of more beer could not hurt, right?

Teyana Taylor as perfidia

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of those directors who has been in my BlindSpot for too long. Beyond The Master, Magnolia And PizzaIt is clear that I have a lot of catch -up to do. But, from what I know about man, you can say a lot about what motivates him here. The characters of Stoner, the vulnerability and the appreciation of the past are all expected, but it is the latter which seems significantly different. A lot of Pta The films focus on the fascination for a period of time for a long time, but it is one of the first that I am aware of what attacks the future with enthusiasm. His love of revolted eras faces reality from the front; Instead that people are building up to the future, his characters are now fighting. And as I said, his approach to this reality is much more optimistic and less nihilistic than you think. It is perhaps because the guy is a father, because you can really feel compassion for the generations to come through Willa, who was born in circumstances less than ideal, but finds this spark of combat that she saw her father left a long time ago. The angle of the father / daughter here is quite comforting, succeeding in providing so much development despite the separation of the father and the girl for most. In addition, Pta The attention to intentional framework yields, with entirely old plans and compositions of which we will speak a little later. In short; Yeah, this guy knows what he is doing and he should probably continue to do it.

I love that we are currently in my favorite era of Leonardo DiCAPRI Performances; The pathetic and incompetent DOOFUS era. A bit like his roles in Once upon a time … in Hollywood And Flower moon killers,, Dicaprio Bob is a lapid, paranoid and impartial protagonist whose largest obstacle ends up being himself. He is so entertaining in his helpless anger, but his regrets during the way in which his life took place offers pity and growth for a character otherwise of a note. Newcomer Infiniti Chase is also a star as a daughter of Bob Willa, in a way representing the new generation which was not exactly given with the right tools to work with their parents but finds itself forced to understand it once pushed in the harsh reality. Benicio Del Toro plays a great mode of realization of the community and tranquility as a sensei, while Regina Hall And Teyana Taylor offers different information on revolutionary state of mind as Deandra and Perfidia respectively. However, I hope that we could have obtained a little more of them, because they evoke interesting sockets in service and self-service which ultimately do not see as much game as I would have liked.

But there is a character that everyone will talk about, and for a good reason. It is Sean Penn’s Netry and relentless maniac colonel Steven Lockjaw. Not being hyperbolic, but it is a generational performance. Man manages to be frightening, pathetic, manipulator and a loose cannon at the same time, reminding me a lot Dennis Hopper’s Frank Booth of Blue velvet. Really, he is the most diaper and most intriguing character in the whole film, and you can spend much more time with him than you expect. Penn To really have this thing to a T, the way he walks towards the way he waged his lip with this fucking haircut. The man is so vile and repugnant, but there is almost a shade of … well, no sympathy, but to understand for him. He is either confused as to which he is and what he wants, or he is ready to betray everything he represents for his own impulsive desires. Maybe both? Anyway, I cannot be silent about the great performance that it is; Easily one of the best performances of bad guys in the decade and probably beyond.

This thing lasts almost three hours, and honestly, I don’t think it ever wanted. This is due in part to each piece of this machine working in synchronicity, keeping this convincing and magnetic thing everywhere. The script is obviously a star, especially with comedy. We never have the impression that the film sets up jokes; Rather, find humor in the madness and naturalism of the world. It helps dissolve tensions in history, but never in a way that undermines the danger of the situation. It is in a way beauty; The malicious powers that cause most of the film’s problems are often clumsy, non -distorted and ridiculous. But, because From the power they hold, they are always considered obvious threats, but not invincible beacons of evil, which seem very relevant to today. Meanwhile, the flow of the film is so well punctuated, never having a single drop of energy or goal or entertainment throughout. Even when something simple happens, the composition and the camera make overtime to make sure everything remains interesting. A conversation in a mirror, a case concluded in a away shot, a roller coaster of a car in pursuit of sloping hills which is so fascinating and so tense that it would remain in my mind for a long time. But you cannot ignore the frantic partition, some of my favorite bits being floating pieces in the third act as a handful of people are desperately looking for their targets. It looks great, it sounds great … Do you take that this movie is great?

Sean Penn as colonel lockjaw

But with the film so anchored in the problems of the real world, what is it? What is the big point to remember from everything? Honestly, and I don’t say that much … I don’t think that is what is important here. Of course, this is part of the framework of the story Pta Try to say, but I think a lot of things are relevant because It takes place in the present. He could have chosen many other eras to install, as he was known, but he did not do it. It is clear on which side of the fence Pta Can sit on certain problems, but at the same time, he does not try a hammer at home an openly political message. At the heart of this film is these themes of paternity and concern about whether we have done enough to prepare our children for the future. All this undeniably feels personal, with Pta Choosing not to criticize a generation, he does not understand, but to believe in the hope that children are doing well. The belief that the simple fact of the world does not seem to change the way you wish does not mean that you stop fighting. It is a universal theme that he knows has an exceptional weight in the here and now, and the establishment of the film these days will perhaps give those who watch it hope that there are even more fights to make.

But do not be frightened by any of these deep thematic speeches. It is a very accessible film which, I think, will give a lot of people a thrill tour that they were desperately looking for. He will wrap you with his performances and his presentation, will keep you invested with his expert pace and his humor via, and leaves you satisfied with the place where he ends and what he says about the future. For the love of God, do not let him pass. This is a film made for the big screen and one of the biggest reasons to go to the cinema that you could find this year. I loved it, and maybe you too. Hail Saint Nick, everyone.

Live the French 75

Look, how could I have a film with a revolutionary group called the French 75 and not Make a sort of riff drinked on the popular cocktail. It would be like seeing The Blues brothers Without the orange whip, or Salo Without the mud flow. But it is not an ordinary French 75. To correspond to the framework of the dusty desert of California, I decided to introduce hibiscus flavors and pepper grains to give it a little terror, as well as Habanero for a little additional spices. However, this always retains sparkling and sweet nature for which the original drink is known. It is a drink that is worth forgetting your family safely so that you can remember this recipe.
