“The Sisters Grimm” by Apple TV +, based on books of the same name of Michael Buckley, intends to act as an entry point for too young viewers for “Harry Potter” and “The Chronicles of Narnia” who always aspire to a serialized fantasy. Her premise of two sisters who are descendants of the Grimm brothers and who live in a sleeping city full of magic fairytale characters recall that of the ABC Once Upon A Time series – at least before it looks at the Synergy of the Disney brand for evaluations – for a younger crowd. Naturally, it works as a good diversion for its target audience. However, given its cramped structure of six episodes, “The Sisters Grimm” talks about the biggest problem that afflicts family animation and the narration of the streaming era.
The first season, which is adapted from the first novel, “The Fairy -Tale Detectives”, opens with the orphans – because you cannot have children’s fantasy without them – 11 -year -old Sabrina (Ariel Winter) and her innocent sister of 7 years, Daphne (Leah Newman) on a nycle newman train). A year earlier, their parents suddenly disappeared. Leaving and Daphne Orphans, the only trace of their parents is a red footprint on the dashboard of their car found on the side of the road. As they arrived at the Relda residence, they were in six host houses, one of which gave them cat food for snacks.
Sabrina, worried instantly by meeting her, is always traumatized by her previous houses and insists on immediately. But they learn the hard time that their new house is among the fairy tale creatures, nicknamed “Everafters”. Shortly after, Relda tried to provide children with information about the city and their parents. However, as Relda conducts an investigation, she is kidnapped by a giant.
The Grimm sisters decided to save their grandmother, on their own. To do this, they must discover the mystery behind their line and the secrets of the city and sail in the Everafters who inhabit it.
The sisters of Grimm alone participated in a rescue mission to save their grandmother. To do this, they must discover the mystery behind their line and the secrets of the city. Many of them are hosted by the suspect mayor, Prince Charming (Abubakar Salim). They soon find allies in some beings Everfter in Jack the Giant Slayer (Dylan Llewellyn), the magic mirror of their house (Harry Trevaldwyn) and Puck (Billy Harris), an excessive 12 -year fairy from Shakespeare from Shakespeare.
While many children’s television programs seem hyperactive today, “The Sisters Grimm” is a relaxed diversion whose magic stems from its simple fantastic tone. The showrunner Amy Higgins and its writing team maintain a coherent and mysterious atmosphere, as well as a constant development of the characters, for its demographic youth, without ever appearing. The main driving force is the loving and healthy link between her central tracks: Sabrina is the caregiver of Daphne, but they are also sisters who provide mutual support and affection, rarely arguing.

Although “Sisters Grimm” is not an educational program and sometimes takes a darker tone, its attraction recalls the PBS Kids Go programming block of PBS, now defined, with which I grew up. He would have done at home alongside “Wordgirl”, “Wild Kratts” and “Cyberchase”, offering well -sophisticated and sophisticated adventures with subtle themes which are both stimulating and socially relevant. In addition, “Sister’s Grimm” has an autumn illustrative aesthetic which is well appeared by the backgrounds in moulting. This compensates for the same average animation quality as other programs produced by Titmouse on Apple TV +, such as “Harriet the Spy” and “Frog & Toad”.
The relaxed tone is damn, “Sisters Grimm” falls under the same frustrating fate as so many other animated programs. His short episode of the number means that history rushes, acting as a hare when it should be a turtle. This is particularly true in the second half of the season, which introduces intriguing conflicts and narrative twists and turns concerning citizens of ferry landing. Given the quantity spent on the mystery at hand, there is not much weight won, given the limited scope of history at that time. It is aggravating to see the standard streaming standards clip the wings of animated programs which have so much potential and charm. Since it is the first of many new adaptations, we can a follow -up season allows him to fully carry out his magical domain.
In the current state of things, “The Sisters Grimm” is entertainment for charming children. Although it is not enough to call on parents, it is a solid diversion for families looking for a new show for all ages for fall.
Whole series projected for examination. First on October 3 on Apple TV +.
