With this outing, “Ted Lasso”, “narrowing”, “loot”, “palm royale”, “acapulco”, and the recently published “stick”, Apple TV + has become the leader of the warm comedy industry and well-being punctuated by the occasional dramatic rhythm.

Rogen and Byrne were great as a married couple in the “neighbors” led by Stoller (2014) and “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” (2016), but it is refreshing to see them playing really platonic friends here; Although Will and Sylvia are super together, they are intelligent enough to know that they would be disastrous together; There is never even a suspicion of “when Harry met Sally …” that they go / will they not be dynamic.

Season 2 takes up each of them installed in the next chapter of their lives. Will is now working as Director of the Gastropube channel Johnny 66, who renamed himself in an initial way as J-6 after his founder was ousted, and he is engaged to his boss, Jenna (Rachel Rosenbloom). It ends well with Sylvia’s emerging career as a party planner; Naturally, she is responsible for setting up all the events that arise for the wedding. With episode lengths ranging from 24 to 40 minutes, “Platonic” settles in a rhythm of comedy with a unique camera without effort. Byrne and Rogen do most of the bulk of the work, but the support cast also has the game. MacFarlane has superb moments of window as Charlie, obsessed with “Jeopardy!” And dreams of winning a place in the series, while Carla Gallo kills as Sylvia, Katie, who has a “boss mama” podcast where she speaks with “vocal fry” and sells goods “to raise awareness”. (When Sylvia says: “Sensitize what?”

There is a regular regime of references of pop culture, of “fatal attraction” to a well -deserved shot to Russell Brand to “avatar” to Dr. Melfi of “The Sopranos”, but the drops of names and title never feel forced or crushed.
