Darling, no! – Review and cocktail – GenMovi

Can Coen brothers Kiss and makeup already? Listen, I understand that they want to do their own business. JOEL COS wants to make adaptations to one for one of the Shakespeare classics, and Ethan Coen wants to make movies on Margaret Qualley have sex with women. Both are respectable artistic efforts. Ethan Hunt dolls did not receive the best Notice, but I had a fairly decent time with it. There was a lot of this dry brand Coen Humor, a friendly cast and a rather wacky publishing style that I appreciated. His dive into black queer cinema with his wife and his longtime publisher Tricia Cooke It will certainly not be for everyone, but I’m going to look at anything if it’s interesting enough. It’s a shame that it is not.

Darling, no! Leave me frustrated because sometimes he manages to do a lot to the right. The performances are quite solid and I found a lot of humor that worked on me, but this script is a scary waste. The threads of the plot are suspended, the motivations of the characters are not fully explored and the story as a whole ended up being incredibly insatting. It does not help that the film has more or less abandoned a lot of creativity that Hunt dolls had in the editing, leaving each scene at the mercy of the half -cooked writing. I cannot believe that they managed to bother me with a film where Margaret Qualley horses ABREY PLAZA.

(From left to right) Aubrey Plaza as MG and Margaret Qualley like Honey

Private honey, O’Danahue is caught in a whirlwind of brewing disorders in the dusty city of Bakersfield, California. People end dead, others disappear and everyone is incredibly horn. Okay, this last part is not really one of the problems. Honey soon finds himself looking in the local church, led by a passionate and crazy pastor of sex, while slowly falling in love with a cop named MG. Will she find a link between the Church and these tragedies? Will it make love operate despite its reserve? East Nothing Are you going to make sense at the end? I have the impression that you can probably guess the latter.

At least the game is fun to monitor mostly. I really think the star here is Chris EvansWho plays the Reverend Drew Devlin, a cult chief not so subtle obsessed with the enlargement of the mind of his disciples … among other parts of the body. His arrogant and neurotic personality Horndog makes a big scene to Evans Being really entertaining for the first time for some time. I love him in a good unpleasant role, and by God, that’s exactly what we get. He is obviously a seller of snake oil, parodying these noisy evangelical preachers, shouting on the plane of God while sleeping with each woman who passes through her church. Of course, the role is almost what you expect from a preacher in a gay criminal film, but that makes him no less entertaining. I would like to be able to say that about the rest of the distribution. Margaret Qualley Honey is the main character, but it is such a dry and uninteresting protagonist. Quality Made of his best, but all his character is really relegated, they are the black shots without real nuance. Her impasse works definitively when it comes to landing comedy, but as a character, there is really not much for her. ABREY PLAZA MG also feels underdeveloped, and when the character goes through a change later in the film, he does not really feel won. Always good to see Charlie DayHowever.

Chris Evans as Drew Devlin

So, many characters are not completely extensive, which, I suppose, was intentional to correspond to the artistic direction of history, which is not extensive either. It is a mystery of murder, but you never really feel like going to the bottom of anything. There are a lot of red herring and steering errors, but everything seems incredibly disconnected. From Honey, to the church, to a small parallel conflict involving the niece of Honey Corinne, you expect these stories to have a kind of intelligent conversion, but this is simply not the case. So many history elements are introduced, but ultimately do not play any significant role in the situation as a whole. The church pushes the drugs and murdered people who could expose them, but not only does it hardly have a real impact on the main story, but it is not even satisfactory or interesting. The father separated from Honey en randomly enters the story at a given moment, adding absolutely nothing to the character’s journey or the mystery. The resolution of the mystery comes out of nowhere and feels super confused because the script simply does not communicate what is happening very clearly. As the killer is revealed, we do not really understand their motivations and their reasoning, and once the credits rolled, I felt so deflated because he gave the impression that the rest of the film was only a big waste of time. Most of the time, you even forget that there is a mystery, which, I do not know, seems that it should be at the forefront of your mystery movie.

Although the film has its humor, it plays it especially all the time. It is obviously a contrast with Hunt dollsWho used his boorking more for laughter rather than for eroticism. This film testing Being erotic, almost in a similar vein to love bleeding lies, but it turns out to be clumsy. There is a scene of honey and MG which becomes useful in a bar trying to be upset and sexy, but the way in which this scene is used seemed quite clumsy and whose only goal was to shoot the public, both literally and metaphorically. Liminant love A similar configuration works much better because it feeds the despair and isolation that has just lived in a desert city, but here it really does not mean much. This is my biggest reproach with the film; There is nothing.

Darling, I don’t! Odes with black crime feel like a parody, its eroticism feels hollow and its mystery is badly constructed. Apart from giving us some good performances and decent laughter, I don’t really know what this film was finally trying to accomplish. It is not terribleBut it is a failure that does not end up being greater than the sum of its parts. There was everything that was doing it, but he just couldn’t land this swing. I never really wondered which Coen brothers was the source of talent, but guy, I could have thoughts now.
