Mehrnaz is simply a source of inspiration. Not just to aspiring sound creatives, but to women everywhere.

From Iran to Hollywood, his incredible story resonates with everyone who is determined to succeed.

With a career full of diverse and high-profile projects, Mehrnaz has broken societal barriers to become a well-known name in the industry.

As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the LA Film School, we are thrilled to welcome Mehrnaz as an inductee to our 5th annual Spotlight Awards.

How did Mehrnaz succeed in the industry?

Mehrnaz’s journey began in Tehran, Iran, where she fell in love with art and music.

Despite living in a country where few women work in sound, she pursued her dream and became one of the first female sound engineers in Iran.

Driven by her passion, Mehrnaz moved to Los Angeles, inspired by the sound design of famous Hollywood films such as the original Star Wars trilogy And Ofll-E.

His love for the city’s film scene kept him going. Although she struggled to find work at first, she never gave up. Eventually, she landed a job at a Disney-affiliated studio. Her perseverance and skills opened doors for her, led her to work on landmark projects and build an impressive CV.

The connection with the LA Film School

Mehrnaz’s journey to the LA Film School was a major step in his success.

With the guidance of incredible mentors like Val Kuklowsky and James Coburn, who offered not only their knowledge but also their unwavering support, she was able to hone her skills and expand her network.

Since then, Mehrnaz has worked on various high-profile projects, including Winning time And American fiction. One of his most exciting recent works was his collaboration with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky on Postcard from Earth for the Sphere in Las Vegas, a project that perfectly showcases its versatility and innovation in immersive sound technology.

Now a seasoned ADR mixer, Mehrnaz is known for her natural flow sessions, an approach in which actors deliver their lines seamlessly, without pauses or stiff starts. With these skills, she helps actors like Al Pacino, Willem Dafoe, and Molly Shannon deliver their most thrilling performances.

His talent has earned him industry-wide recognition, including a nomination for the MPSE Golden Reel Award for Outstanding Sound Editing in Documentary. Fire Hunters and an AAAA Best Sound Award for Diaspora of the soul.
