A little player in the Chris Evans era, Anthony Mackie has never really found a definition as Falcon. Marvel gave him the wings (literally) but none of the personality and individuality he needed to fly. Not that standing out has never been easy from a charismatic company than the original Avengers. And yet it is an era of the second GOS for the MCU. Soon, Robert Downey Jr. will return, although in a different form. In the here and now, Brave New World Give Mackie the spotlight and the Captain America shield coat. Boy, he takes it right. It seems a new promising direction, even if the vehicle itself could not really be called “courageous”.
Curiously, this fourth Captain America The adventure proves a sequence of 2008 as much The incredible hulk – This little reminder, Edward Norton faced the origin MCU – like the last stand of Evans. It is also based on the most recent events of Chloé Zhao, but barely better recalled, Ethernalsand 2021 barely watched Disney + Series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. By necessity, the film therefore follows a fine line. Brave New World Does not have the luxury of the gold of Evans, in which Marvel could put himself in the bank of the public religiously up to date, and must adapt his story to the totally blind, without insulting the intelligence of the hardcore devotees which always follow each round and lap. They are still there.
In large part, the balance is highly managed. A small exhibition here and there is to cause viewers in the right direction, but the action is contained quite well. No matter if you don’t have a memory of Thaddeus Ross or its history with Hulk and Evans ‘Cap’ from Norton, this is the type that counts. In addition, with Harrison Ford replacing the late William Hurt, he could just as easily be a different man. It’s not like Ross is an army costume these days either. Indeed, the film opens with his speech on the day of the election as a newly returned American president. It is held on a conviviality platform, but it is on its pioneering treaty with Japan – something to do with Adamantium in the Indian Ocean (this does not really matter) – on which its reputation is based. It is somewhat hampered by the propensity for its security information to try to accidentally assassinate it without notice.
Just like the vogue of Captain America Line, in the wider brand of Marvel, the tone here is that of spying and political thriller. It is quite beautifully classified to a stylization of the almost cold war and led in costume by Cloverfield’s paradox‘S Julius Onah. An energetic partition of Laura Karpman, for her part, does well to inspire the momentum in the tone of the film, if not quite the story, which is not as intelligent as it hoped. Where Onah is struggling, however, is in the capture of gravity. While his action bounces all over the world, there is little real sense of the location that changes or any real feeling of weight to the actions, supposedly monumental, from the characters inside. It is a fairly coherent little game but far from the propulsive or the acceleration of the impulse.
Ford, at least, brings a certain weight to the procedures. A touch of class class and energy energy. Admittedly, his Ross benefits from the most convincing trip to the screen, even that – and the film in general – could have benefited from less revealing promotional equipment. Against him, Mackie constitutes a fairly fair and fairly fine action hero, agile in attack and stoic to all other greetings. Unlike Rogers d’Evans, Sam Wilson de Mackie does not actually have great attributes and there is something morbid with his fallibility in the costume. Danny Ramirez makes a funny addition as a new Falcon – dancing so delicately on the irritability line – while Shira Haas cuts well in the vacuum cleaner in the shape of Scarlet Johansson for a black widow convert. Both, we assume, will come back.
Of course, none of this is close to Marvel’s omnipresent problems in the longer term. Recently in Brave New World Fairly courageous enough to bring the studio back to something like the world domination that it once played. However, under the stewardship of Mackie, there is a glow of the new. There may be something by sucking beyond the years at the end of the game. Going back to 2008, the film recalls a bygone era in which such blockbusters offered a nothing time but fun because the pleasure was sufficient. He is still.
