We will probably lack helium, trees and drinking water before missing Stephen King Stories to adapt to the film. The guy has more than 200 works written in his name, and there is nothing that Hollywood likes more than engulfing and spitting them on the screen. Damn, Carrie At three theatrical films, a musical and a television series currently in preparation. 2025 certainly seems to be the year of Stephen King adaptations, as we had Chuck’s life And The monkey Earlier this year, with The racing man Prepare to tear towards the end of the year. But before that, we have The long walk,, King’S The first novel he has ever written and the first adaptation of this work.
It is a fairly simple premise. An American dystopian ravaged by war and poverty organizes an annual competition where young men can participate in a “Last Man Standing” walking competition to win a huge prize in cash and a desire for their choice. If you don’t continue to walk, you are dead. We have seen countless films like this, where a destitute country is engaged in performative acts of brutality, as The purge,, Royal battle And … oh yeah, The racing man. But sometimes these kinds of films are too taken in the greatness of their situation, forgetting to find the real humanity in everything. Not The long walk However, as in all his sufferings and unhappiness, he has a hell of a big heart.
Director Francis LawrenceA director is not so familiar with dystopian game shows, has delivered an incredibly moving and effective story filled with camaraderie, reflection and brutality. Such a simple premise is given to the legs (without puns) thanks to a stellar distribution made up of the future of Hollywood, a feeling of captivating tension and a magnetic script that gives us the first Stephen King adaptation that felt as A Stephen King Work in a moment. His meditations on totalitarianism, masculinity and goal may not be the most nuanced or the most broken of the earth, but I think that they are no less poignant, especially for the world in which we live today. These are one of my favorite events in the film; A film comes out that I did not really intend to see who proves me badly.
There are a certain number of young men who participate in walking, and the film does an excellent job not only to make them memorable and identifiable, but also by giving them a significant depth by the attractive dialogue and sometimes shocking actions. The heart of this film is rolled around the relationship between Ray and Pete, played by Cooper Hoffman And David Jonsson respectively. These two have been increasing for some time now, and it acts as an ideal step for them to show the world of what they are capable of. The two manage to be incredibly striking of their words, while a real sense of undeniable fraternity begins to grow between them. Ray is more a nihilist, but wishes to see the change made in the world in the same way that he found himself here: violence. Pete is much more optimistic, succeeding in seeing the beauty that persists in an infernal world, believing that these moments will be what will save everyone. Their different opinions of the world and their intentions for gains are in fact what ends up gathering them, giving each perspective different from the world, for good or for evil. We cannot understand how good these guys are, and I really think they will be the cobblestones of the future of Hollywood in the future.

But you can’t just sell this thing on two main main performances. Everyone has to bring their game to to fill the rest of the list, and that’s exactly what’s going on here. This thing is strewn with memorable performance that manages to reproduce the same way of speech and archetypes found in many King works. Ben Wang,, Charlie Plummer And Tut Nyuot are some of my favorites, each being unique enough to inject an essential variety in discussions and events. Even minor characters only wanted cannon fodder to get their moments, which makes almost all deaths in this film capable of clicking your bones. As of Mark HamillWho plays the adult making authority that supervises the walk, I think it was fine. It is an obvious incarnation of the mentality “get by your boots, pain is the best teacher” who surprisingly very little presence in the film. He is the orchestrator of all this and has a very personal link with some of the characters, and I hope that the idea of him feels a little more haunting on the whole before being recalled that he is more of a man than a symbol.
I also did not expect this film to be as brutal as it was. Of course, I guess it was to be expected for a film where almost everyone needs To die, but they don’t punch at all. The children are executed on the left and right, and the camera ensures that you see All. I suppose that the film is quite cut and dry, there is not a ton of space or necessity for creative killed, therefore the unwavering cranial destruction. This first murder sets the tone for the rest of the film, and even if you know that it happens, it does not facilitate the stomach. Certainly be ready if you are delicate. Also, a lot of poop in it. I guess the brain has not been rude enough.

Surprisingly, I think it’s one of my favorite scripts of the year. Although the story takes place more or less as you expect, these are the interactions of characters that really sell it. In the first minutes, the film establishes everyone’s SCHTICK and how they will bounce back from each other, and to see these characters grow and change is incredibly rewarded for the way it is dark of a film, I smiled through many things, not only because I am sick, but because the scenario is so good for establishing the comparison and fraternity simply by discussions. Ray and Pete are hosts of many big round trips that put everything in perspective, finding many universal feelings and ideas that are not exclusive to dystopia. Political change can occur in various ways, from selfishness seriously. The film wants you to consider both, that hope will shine through gloom and this change cannot always come nobly. I am not saying that it will radicalize anyone, but I think it is always important to remember when people tell you that change can only come from one avenue.
The long walk ended up being everything he needed; A tight, contemplative and painful journey through what it means to be a man. The cast can make you smile as much as cry, while haunting violence will remain with you throughout. He didn’t need to be more than that, and yet his manipulation with such care has certainly not gone unnoticed. Better to start making these ankle increases now, just in case.
